Latest Indian Navy Qualification Criteria for Officer Posts : The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces who is headed by the President of India who is Supreme Commander of the Indian Navy. The CNS which is the Chief of Naval Staff which are always a four-star officer in the rank of Admiral, commands the navy. The Indian Navy is the fifth largest in the world. First we get its traces in the year 1672 where they were called East India Company’s Marine to protect British merchant shipping in the region. In 1858, East India Company rule gave way to the British Raj which lasted until India became independent in 1947. Till 1934 Indian Navy is named as the Royal Indian Navy but after the Independence its name was renamed to Indian Navy. The 17th-century Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered as the ‘Father of the Indian Navy’. The main motive of the navy is to secure the nation’s maritime borders; India also uses its navy to enhance its international relations through joint exercises, port visits and humanitarian missions, including disaster relief.


Education Qualification for Indian Navy Officers

To join the Indian Navy the candidate must have completed 10th+12th with background of PCM and graduation with B.Sc, B.E (Physics or Math), in both Bachelors, Masters Degree or Diploma with at least 55% of aggregate marks and they should have good academic records from any of the recognized board / university / college / institute.

Age Limit for Indian Navy Officers

The age limit required by every candidates applying for any of the post in the department they should have limited age limit of 18 years and maximum limit 28 years

Physical Fitness for Indian Navy Officers

As it is a job in the defense sector of the country so the candidates need to be fit so they should know about what is the physical conditions required for the posts. The physical fitness for the job is mentioned below

  • Height: The height of the candidates applying should be 160 cm to 170 cm (Ranging according to the various post in the department).
  • Chest: The chest of the candidates should be 77 cm when not expanded and 83 cm when expanded.
  • Weight: The weight should be proportional to the height but minimum weight should be 50 kg.
